About the role
We are looking for a Technical Business Development Manager to join our team. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the negotiation of new development partnerships, providing a strategic analysis of the markets, and identifying the best marketing routes. You will be working closely with our product development and engineering function to formulate a value proposition.
The Technical Business Development Manager will be key to building and retaining strong relationships with our clients and partners. You will guide our full sales cycle from identifying potential clients/partners to generating leads, developing quotas and proposals, and negotiating and closing our commercial contract.
The role will be hybrid, shared between our London HQ and working remotely. During parts of the year, travel, local and overseas, is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of markets of interest, value and growth rate, geographical relevance, competitive technologies, and potential sales targets attainable.
- Support the development of a clear sales strategy and milestone setting, informed by secondary and primary research
- Research potential clients/client organisations, creating a robust understanding of the deal size and organisation structure, decision-makers, and budget holders to inform the engagement strategy.
- Identify potential channel partners, develop strategic channel partnership roadmaps, focussed on synergies and sales timelines.
- Work closely with technical functions to ensure correct positioning of value propositions based on a robust understanding of the technical aspects/applications of the company's solutions and dynamic market needs.
- Conduct competitive analyses and financial modelling to clearly understand the company's competitive edge, both from a performance and economic perspective.
- Produce quality marketing materials (documents, presentations, videos, blogs).
- Attend (virtual) conferences, trade shows, and professional workshops to build networks keep abreast of the competitive landscape and market developments, and promote the company's technology in relevant markets.
- Generate leads and an appropriate sales pipeline, in line with the company's strategy and annual sales targets, classifying these into SQL and MQLs as appropriate
- Build strong relationships with existing and new clients, acknowledged as an industry expert and a highly credible professional, able also to provide advice and input to clients.
- Create quality detailed development partnerships and proposals, working closely with the technical functions; create, negotiate and close commercial contracts, working closely with legal as/when required.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or a related field or equivalent industry experience. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in the materials/environmental/water/wastewater sector, and has an understanding of materials technologies/solutions. Alternatively, you may have experience in consulting or business development in a technology company.
In addition, you will have:
- Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Robust technical understanding, able to communicate at a technical level with clients.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of building solid relationships with clients, diverse colleagues, partners, advisors and other external entities.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills; able to multi-task efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with a non-compromising approach for producing quality market analysis reports, marketing materials, detailed proposals, and contracts.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite and CRM software.
